About This Place

Located in the heart of Edmonton on Jasper Avenue, Syphay Restaurant offers an authentic and vibrant taste of Thai and Southeast Asian cuisine that truly captures the essence of Thailand’s rich culinary heritage. This cozy yet lively eatery invites diners to embark on a flavorful journey, featuring a menu brimming with classic dishes crafted with fresh ingredients, bold spices, and traditional techniques.

Syphay’s menu highlights some of Thailand’s most beloved dishes, each delivering a symphony of flavors that dance on the palate. The Chicken Pad Thai, a perennial favorite, is perfectly balanced—tangy tamarind, crunchy peanuts, and tender noodles come together in a harmony of sweet, sour, and savory. For those seeking a lighter start, the Vegetable Spring Rolls provide a crispy, golden exterior with a vibrant homemade vegetable filling, while the Shrimp Salad Rolls burst with freshness, though some guests note a unique almond-flavored peanut sauce giving them a distinctive twist.

The curry selections here are exceptional, showcasing the depth and complexity of Thai cooking. The Gang Keauy Green Curry brims with creamy coconut milk infused with aromatic basil and kaffir lime leaves, harmonizing beautifully with the fresh snap peas and bell peppers. Similarly, the Phanang Curry offers a rich coconut base complemented by crunchy snow peas and a medley of colorful peppers, making each bite a delectable experience. For adventurous palates, the ShuShee Chilli shrimp paste curry—with its bold chili heat and peanut sauce undertones—is a standout.

Don’t miss the Mango Sticky Rice, an indulgent yet refreshing dessert that perfectly balances the sweetness of ripe mangoes with creamy, coconut-infused sticky rice. The Mango Ice Cream and traditional Thai Iced Tea are also delightful ways to round out the meal.

Aside from the food, Syphay’s atmosphere is warm and inviting, with attentive staff creating a welcoming ambiance that enhances the dining experience. Guests consistently praise the attentive and kind service, quick turnaround, and generous portion sizes that offer great value. Whether you’re enjoying lunch specials like the flavorful Gang Dang Red Curry or indulging in a dinner feast on a weekend evening, Syphay’s blend of authentic taste and friendly hospitality make it a memorable destination for Thai cuisine enthusiasts.

While parking is somewhat limited and weekend hours are primarily focused on Saturday dinner service, the overall experience more than makes up for these minor inconveniences. Whether you are a local or a visitor craving genuine Southeast Asian flavors, Syphay Restaurant promises a satisfying, vibrant, and authentic culinary adventure right in Edmonton’s bustling core.

We had a fantastic dining experience at Syphay! We started with the Garlic Shrimp Rolls, which were crispy, flavorful, and a perfect way to begin our meal. My husband had the Shu-Shee, and we also ordered the Black Bean Stir-fry with beef—both dishes were absolutely delicious, with rich, well-balanced flavors. The service was quick, and the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. I have a nut and coconut allergy, and they were very accommodating, ensuring I had a safe and enjoyable meal. It’s not always easy to find places that are both mindful of allergies and serve incredible food, but Syphay exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back!

We like galic shrimps rolls, mango sticky rice, pad lao and gang garee a lot. The coconut rice is very tasty. Don't recommend shrimps salad rolls cuz the sauce is almond flavor and kinda weird. Chicken pad thai is okay while pad lao is way better. Service is great. Parking is limited. They only open on Saturday dinner time on weekends.
